This year, Multitask Personnel proudly celebrates 15 years in business. From humble beginnings at a dining table in Rotherham to becoming a trusted recruitment partner across the UK, it has been a journey built on people, relationships, and resilience.
To mark this milestone, we sat down with founder Claire Lee to reflect on how it all began, what’s changed in recruitment since 2010, and what drives her to keep pushing the business forward.
The story of Multitask Personnel starts with a decision to take control of the future.
“I was working for someone who made me feel overworked and undervalued,” Claire recalls. “That experience made me want to set up my own business.”
It was a bold move, but one quickly rewarded. Claire remembers the excitement of securing her first client:
“My first customer was Currys, supplying gas cooker installers. I’ll never forget the buzz of getting those first roles to work on and screening candidates while sat at my dining table at home.”
That first step marked the beginning of a business built on people and trust.
From those early days, Multitask has grown into a recruitment partner working across Energy & Renewables, Mechanical & Electrical, FM & Property, and Environmental sectors. But for Claire, the highlight has always been the people around her.
“Building a fantastic team around me has been one of my proudest moments. I’ve also been lucky to have some fantastic clients who had faith in me from the start, encouraged me when times were tough, and mentored me along the way.”
Of course, recruitment has changed dramatically over 15 years.
“When I started out, candidate and client notes were tracked on cards in a box on my desk and timesheets were faxed through each week. Now we’re using advanced CRMs and technologies — it’s crazy how far things have come.”
The lessons have been just as valuable as the milestones. For Claire, one stands out above all:
“The people and culture you create are one of the most important factors — it’s crucial to get that right.”
Looking back, what advice would she give her younger self?
“Don’t do it… no, seriously, I’d say focus on quality over quantity, be consistent, and be prepared to ride plenty of lows as well as the highs. Have faith in yourself regardless and just keep going.”
That determination is what still motivates Claire today.
“The industry is forever changing, which means we are forced to evolve. That keeps me on my toes and creates new challenges to get my teeth into. Plus, I just love recruiting, people, and working with fantastic companies. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.”
And what about the legacy she hopes to leave?
“To be remembered as an honest, hardworking, and dedicated recruitment professional who delivered for candidates and clients — and as a brilliant manager to work for.”
As Multitask Personnel celebrates 15 years, the focus is firmly on the future. The recruitment industry will continue to evolve with new technologies, flexible working models, and shifting expectations from both employers and candidates. But for Claire, one thing will always remain the same: the importance of people.
“Relationships have always been at the heart of what we do, and they always will be. That personal touch is what makes the difference.”
